JW Lees is a family brewery that was formed in 1828 when retired cotton manufacturer John Lees purchased land in Middleton, Lancashire and built Greengate Brewery, from which the company still operates its Head Office.
JW Lees employs over 1100 personnel across its operations including 143 Hotels and Pubs.
For the last few years BDR have been working with JW Lees helping manage their fixed line telephony and associated services. JW Lees identify BDR’s Online Billing Portal a significant benefit that is helping them manage cost centres by providing automated reports and analysis in a variety of formats as useful management tools.
BDR carried out a large analytical project to identify cost savings, improvement of telecommunication lines as well as internet access at the same time ceasing redundant and not in use historical lines.
Following the above success, JW Lees tasked BDR to carry out a similar exercise on their entire mobile base. With clever manipulation and efficient bundling, BDR provided a totally refreshed and new approach that included significant cost saving with all new hardware shipped on a next day basis.
The mobile project presented new challenges due to the volume of remote staff, home workers and venue locations as well as the general day to day needs of the operations. BDR’s allocation of a dedicated project manager proved the right step at the planning stage that ensured a successful and seamless change over with minimum disturbance.
The BDR, JW Lees partnership continues to develop and now expands into JW Lees’ hotel business and refurbishment. Recent examples are the Alderley Edge & Trearddur Bay Hotels that are both large and prestigious assets and had undergone high end refurbishments needing a telecommunication solution to match.
BDR designed and implemented solutions for both hotels based on the award winning Ericsson – LG Cloud platform maintaining business continuity with no loss of service. By effectively utilising the latest unified technology, wireless devices and SIP trunking a good balance of reduction in costs and increase in operational efficiencies was achieved that has been received well by the staff.
Using our geographical strengths and nationwide engineering footprint BDR are successfully maintaining all sites for our valued customer.

We have recently installed phone systems in 2 major hotels which has been a significant improvement and we have also just renewed our mobile contract direct with BDR.
Additionally, the availability of engineers who really know their stuff has got us out of a few problems!
